Happy Day of Giving Thanks

The name of the day may have changed in some circles; the story of the day, as it has been told to us, may be incorrect. Regardless of the history, fact or fiction, to me and my family it will always be, as in all other holidays, a day of gathering together and being grateful for having each other. At times food may be plenty, other times not so much, but the love is always abundant.

How we ‘think’ our lives (and live them) can bring us much joy, and also much misery. We are what we think, not only what we eat (as some would say). We attract to us what we think of most, whether it be positive experiences or negative ones. Sadly, so many of us dwell on the bad stuff instead of the good that surrounds us. We just keep thinking the ‘bad’ and perpetuate it until we are pretty fed up with it, and life in general. Being in gratitude, we can shift that thinking to the positive and finally get more good stuff flowing to us.

Adopting an Attitude of Gratitude is my goal for the rest of this year. What better way to celebrate Thanksgiving than by keeping the spirit of ‘thanks’ alive throughout the year. If you are reading this, I am so very grateful that you found my website/blog and hope you enjoy what I share. Drop me a line and let me know what you are grateful for.

Now, as I reflect on the many changes that have happened in my life, I can see more clearly how blessed I’ve been. I am grateful for my family and friends, and for the many acquaintances I have met over the years. I have learned so much from all of them, and hope they have learned something from me. We know that even the most benign action, word or phrase, and touch can affect a change in someone’s life.

Knowing how much the sense of touch affects us, I am grateful for the people I am privileged to meet who entrust me with their bodies, minds and spirits. If I can make even the smallest difference in raising their quality of ‘be-ing’, then I know I’ve done my ‘job’. If I have not, then I would be grateful for the opportunity to do so.

Some day, perhaps, we will all recognize how lucky we are to live on such a magnificent planet. With the beauty and love that surrounds us (look and you will find it), how can we not be thankful for each other. How can we not appreciate the diversity of nature, the diversity in humanity, and be grateful to have the opportunity to make changes for the better.

Happy Thanksgiving.
